Coming Soon: Rush by Nyrae Dawn

Rush by Nyrae Dawn

Rush by Nyrae Dawn

Big excitement over here. My friend Nyrae Dawn, who’s had amazing success as an author of mainstream YA and NA romance, is soon to release her first New Adult gay romance with Grand Central / Hachette Book group. I’m so thrilled for her. It’s a follow-on to a couple introduced in her book Four Summers, but I guarantee it reads just fine as a standalone because I got a sneak peek at it for a promo blurb, and hadn’t yet read Four Summers. Alec and Brandon’s story is so heartfelt and touching, and you’re gonna wanna check it out. You can pre-order now at Amazon or B&N.

About Rush:

This new adult, male/male romance.

Brandon Chase has always defined himself by one thing: football. He loves the game, but struggles with his attraction for his best friend Alec Andrews. Alec thinks it’ll work out as long as they’re together, but Brandon can’t choose between their feelings and his fear of losing his spot on the team. Rather than deal with it, he tells Alec goodbye.

A year and a half later, Alec has finally moved on with his life until he finds out Brandon’s been hurt. Unable to deny his feelings for Brandon, Alec offers to help him train for his senior year and push for the NFL draft.

But as they spend the summer together, the two can’t deny their attraction–the rush they feel when they’re together is even stronger now and neither wants to walk away. Can Alec come out to his family, and Brandon come to terms with being a gay football player? Either way, there’ll be consequences both have to be ready to face.

Review: Silent

Silent
Silent by Sara Alva
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Silent was one of those books that made me worry for the characters when I wasn’t reading, and even after I’d finished. I felt Alex’s anger, his want, and his pain so acutely. This is a story of two teenagers finding love and hope in the midst of a hopeless situation, and it was told about as beautifully and carefully as I think it possibly could have been. It felt real and authentic, but awareness for the delicacy of Sebastian’s potential mental health issues and what that meant for Alex was addressed.

We know early on that Alex’s home life is full of abuse and neglect, and he’s facing gang life as his only alternative. The only thing that’s kept him out is knowing he won’t last long in a gang if they find out he’s gay. When he winds up in foster care, he’s horrified to realize he’s developing a growing attraction to his special needs foster brother who’s a good listener to all Alex’s problems–mostly because Sebastian is mute.

This story is such a good read, in part because it’s so gritty and raw. Things seem hopeless for the two young men almost for the entire duration of the book, and that was what kept me turning pages and holding my breath, until practically the last page. Loved. ❤

Quickie: Why did Yes, Sir disappear from B&N?

Short answer? I didn’t take it down, so I’m not sure.

Some possibilities are that it got caught up in the latest “porn sweep” (Forbidden Love and Stripped Clean were briefly taken down from Kobo Books, and Stripped Clean has been returned to their catalog but Forbidden Love has not last I checked) or it could have been a random glitch. Unfortunately I didn’t realize Yes, Sir had disappeared from B&N until a reader complained by way of posting the fact that Yes, Sir had been taken down in a Goodreads review, and while I try to check on these things periodically I do tend to assume my books are where they’re supposed to be unless I’ve done something to change their status.

At any rate, I’m looking into finding a solution for the problem and determining the best possible fix. In the meantime, if you want Yes, Sir in .epub format specifically, it is still available at Kobo Books, and All Romance Ebooks.

If there is any further issue with the availability of this or any other of my books, please do email me to let me know (ellis carrington at gmail). It’s the easiest way to ensure I can be responsive to my readers, and I do want my readers to be happy. 🙂

Humpday Wrapup!

StrippedCleanFlatLayers_hidden

Stripped Clean is now available in print! *tosses glitter* You have one more day to win a copy from Read-Love-Blog, and you can also order it from Amazon.

Rhys Ford is doing a giveaway of all three of her Dirty Kiss books over at The Novel Approach, too. So you should probably head over and check that shit out. There’s a free shirt, and that’s practically better than porn, right?

Congrats to my Riley Hart for hitting #1 on Amazon’s gay romance bestseller list with her debut adult gay contemporary novel, Collide! I was honored to have the pleasure of beta reading Collide, and am so thrilled to see everybody loving it as much as I did.

I am working on Ricky’s story, Stripped Away, and that’ll be out in the spring I think. Many thanks to everybody who has asked. I’m also working on another standalone contemporary that I promised to someone, and I’m hoping I can make that happen sooner than later. There’s also a sequel in the distance for Forbidden Love for those who have asked, it has just turned out to be more difficult than I thought. As for a sequel to Yes, Sir? That was originally supposed to be a standalone short, but I’ve considered the idea off and on since 2011 when I wrote the original draft of the story. I’m not ruling out the idea of a companion novel, but I want to be sure I can do Nate and Gray justice first.

Meanwhile, there’s that holiday stuff and…whatnot. I get to see a hot, hairy man in a kilt for Thanksgiving. I’m super psyched. Anybody else doing anything festive?

Out now: COLLIDE by Riley Hart

My friend and “work in progress” co-author Riley Hart kicks off her gay romance debut with a sweet small-town first-in series about two boyhood friends who reconnect as adults. I was lucky enough to beta read this one and really enjoyed it:

collide

About COLLIDE:

At ten years old, Noah Jameson and Cooper Bradshaw collided mid-air when they dove for the same football. For three years, they were inseparable…until one day when Noah and his parents disappeared in the middle of the night.

Noah and Cooper never knew what happened to each other. Now, seventeen years later, after finding his boyfriend in bed with another man, Noah returns to Blackcreek looking for a fresh start. And damned if he doesn’t find his old friend grew up to be sexy as sin. Coop can’t believe Noah—the only person he trusted with the guilt over his parents’ death—is back. And gay… Or that Cooper himself suddenly wants another man in his bed for the first time.

There’s no denying the attraction and emotion between them, but can they overcome the ghosts of their pasts to have a future together?

Comment from Ellis: There’s a bittersweet note about the gorgeous cover on this book. The photographer who shot the cover photo, Jackson Photographix, announced on his Facebook page a few days ago that one of the models in the picture was killed by a drunk driver in Alberta. As it turns out, Brennan was a creative guy who made most of the furniture in his own home – very much like Noah, one of the heroes in Riley’s book. It strikes me as a heartbreaking bit of kismet. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing.
